วัดห้วยลึก ก่อตั้งขั้นเมื่อ 30 มิ.ย. 2523 เดิมทีไม่ได้เป็นวัดห้วยลึก แต่เป็นเพียงสำนักสงฆ์ ชื่อว่า “สำนักสงฆ์ห้วยหงษ์ ” ซึ่งจุดเด่นของวัดห้วยลึกคือหงษ์ทองที่ตั้งอยู่ซุ้มประตูหน้าวัด ใครที่เดินทางลงใต้จากกรุงเทพก็จะต้องเห็นเจ้าหงษ์ทองตัวนี้ สำหรับเรื่องราวตำนานของหงษ์ตัวนี้ได้มีประวัติเล่าต่อกันมายาวนาน เมื่อในอดีตหงษ์ตัวนี้ได้หายไปและกลับมาอีกทีพร้อมกับรอยเลือดที่ติดอยู่ที่บริเวณปากของมัน เมื่อหลวงพ่อเห็นดังนั้น จึงเอาโซ่ล่ามไว้เพื่อไม่ให้มันหนีไปไหนบ้างก็ว่าต้องล่ามโซ่ไว้เพราะมันสามารถที่จะบินได้และทำให้ชาวบ้านเกิดอุบัติเหตุอยู่บ่อยครั้ง การล่ามโซ่หงษ์นั้น อีกสาเหตุหนึ่งมาจากความเชื่อที่ว่ามันอาจจะบินไปหาหงษ์ตัวลูกหรืออาจจะเป็นห่วงลูกนั่นเอง ท้ายที่สุดชาวบ้านจึงได้สร้างหงส์ตัวเล็กเอาไว้อยู่ข้างๆ ซึ่งเปรียบเสมือนเป็นลูกของมันนั่นเองและได้นำโซ่ที่ล่ามไว้ออก
