บ้านบางปู เป็นหมู่บ้านชาวประมง ตั้งอยู่ หมู่ที่ 8 ตำบลสามร้อยยอด อำเภอสามร้อยยอด จังหวัดประจวบคีรีขันธ์ เป็นหมู่บ้านชาวประมงตั้งอยู่บนที่ราบชายฝั่งทะเล ในเขตอุทยานแห่งชาติสามร้อยยอด มีภูเขาล้อมรอบทั้งสามด้าน มีคลองตามธรรมชาติ บริเวณปากคลองมีลักษณะเป็นตะกาดดินเลนที่อุดมสมบูรณ์ไปด้วยสารอาหารและแพลงตอนทะเล จึงมีปลาขนาดเล็กและปูทะเลมาอาศัยอยู่ในคลองและชายหาดเป็นจำนวนมาก ได้แก่ ปูม้า ปูทะเล ปูฤาษี ปูก้ามดาบ ปูแสม ปูเปรี้ยว ปูก้ามแข็ง และปูหิน ชาวบ้านจึงเรียกบริเวณนี้ว่า บางปู เป็นทางผ่านไปถ้ำพระยานคร มีวิถีชีวิตของชาวประมงริมทะเลฝั่งอ่าวไทย เรียบง่าย คลองบางปูมีการนำเรือประมงมาจอดไว้ยังท่าเรือหน้าบ้าน และในคลองบางปูยังเป็นแหล่งเลี้ยงสัตว์ทะเลอีกหลายชนิด บริเวณในหมูบ้านบางปูมีโฮมสเตย์ริมน้ำ ร้านอาหาร นักท่องเที่ยวคนไหนสนใจก็แวะเวียนไปพักกันได้ คนที่นี่ใจดี ราคาสินค้าไม่แพง
จากกรุงเทพใช้เส้นทางหลวงหมายเลข 4 ถนนเพชรเกษม มุ่งหน้าไปยัง จ.ประจวบคีรีขันธ์ เลี้ยวซ้ายไปทางอุทยานแห่งชาติสามร้อยยอด แล้วเลี้ยวซ้ายไปตามเส้นทางชนบท ป.ช. 4020 ขับไปไม่ไกลจะเจอป้ายไปถ้ำพระยานครให้เลี้ยวซ้ายเข้าไปอีกประมาณ 5 กิโลเมตร ก็จะเป็นบ้านบางปู อยู่ก่อนถึงหาดบางปูประมาณ 500 เมตร
Ban Bang Pu is a fisherman village located at Village No. 8, Sam Roi Yot Subdistrict, Sam Roi Yot District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. This fishing village is located on the coastal plain in the Sam Roi Yot National Park. There are mountains embrace both three sides and a natural canal. The mouth of the canal features muddy soil that is rich in nutrients and marine plankton. As a result, much small fish and sea crabs are living in this canal and beaches, such as blue crabs, sea crabs, hermit crabs, sword clawed crabs, macaque crabs, sour crabs, hard clawed crabs, and stone crabs. Therefore, the villagers call this area "Bang Pu." A way through to Tham Phraya Nakhon, has the simple way of fishers lifestyle on the seacoast the Gulf of Thailand. A fishing boat at Khlong Bang Pu parked at the pier in front of the house and is a source of varieties of aquatic animals. Inside Bang Pu Village offers a waterfront homestay and restaurants for tourists who interest in resting. People here are kind, and prices are not expensive.
From Bangkok, take Highway No. 4, Petchkasem Road heading to Prachuap Khiri Khan province, turn left towards Sam Roi Yot National Park. Then, turn left onto the rural route Por Chor 4020. Drive a short distance, you will see a sign to Tham Phraya Nakhon, turn left for another 5 kilometers to reach Ban Bang Pu, which is about 500 meters before reaching Bang Pu Beach.
